Welcome to Day 1

First person in today is Fiona and she's already guessing!!! Love your pretty shuttle, Fiona.  She says:
"Hi Jane

Have a lovely day.

Tim is next (he's always up and about really early!). He says:
"It's a snake!"

Lyn is next with her day 1 on a lovely shade of green. She says:
"Hi Jane,Thanks again for TAIS 2018. At this stage it looks like a centipede but I expect it to be something else! Lol 😂

Next to arrive is Julie with her day 1. She says:
"Hello Jane ! The last TIAS has finally begun! Here is my day 1. I am using Lizbeth thread 164, one of my favourite shade."

Now probably in bed asleep the next arrival is from Jenni who says:
"Duh...
Forgot where to send it!!
Thought seeing it is sadly the last, I had better use the good silverware.
And....wow.... actually started it on the day it was put up!!!
Jenni (Liyarra)"

Beautiful shuttles, Jenni.

Jane is next in and she has this to say:
"Hi Jane, here’s my day 1. It’s just an itty bitty thing at this stage!"

Mary follows Jane into my inbox which I take in strict order. Her comment is:
"This is Lizbeth #20 thread. Color? Paper disappeared. Waiting for day 2Mjb from Jasper Indiana USA đŸ‡ș🇾"

Next to arrive is Laurence who says:
"Good morning Jane.
This is my day 1 with Lizbeth 20 col. 136
See you soon."

Just had this message from Carrollyn which I've GOT to share. She asks this question.
"HEY, I'm confussed was that 2 beads on 4 and 1/2 yards?"  The answer is 'yes'.

Patricia has arrived next and she's back to guessing the same thing as last year. Here's her comment.
"Using Lizbeth size 20, color #184.From Muskogee, OK USA--where it is a very cold, 4*F !!
If last year, you didn't succeed...
Try, try again!
I think it is a _______"

Greetings from Poland"

"Hi Jane,Here's my 1st segment of the Tias 2018. Thanks so much for this fun-filled annual event again.  It is done in size 20, Lizbeth 134 Mountain Breeze.

One of our French friends is next in. Hi, Nathalie. She says simply
"Jour 1"

Now I have another of our Polish tatters. Welcome to Ania. This is her comment and her picture too:
"Hello
My name is Ania Krause. I'm from ƚwidnica, Poland.
Ania Krause"

Next in is my friend from last year who has returned again. Joli Mama makes me smile a lot. She's from Hungary and says:
"Kedves Jane! Nagyon örĂŒlök, hogy ismĂ©t elindult a TIAS. SzĂvesen csinĂĄlom, Ă©s Ă©lvezem, hogy fog kialakulni a kĂ©sz munka. Köszönöm a munkĂĄdat.
BarĂĄtsĂĄggal: Jolimama

Friendship Joli Mama"

Another new arrival has just popped into my inbox. This time it's Joni who says:
"Hello from frigid Iowa, USA! It’s just a tiny caterpillar so far, wonder what it will become? I
Joni W."

Cindy has returned for her second year with us. She says:
"Hi Jane,
I am so excited to join again this year. It was almost exactly a year ago that I picked up a shuttle for the first time, and partially due to your encouragement, I have been enjoying myself ever since! This morning it was -12 degrees Celsius, or 4 Degrees Fahrenheit, and our garden hose was frozen solid, as well as quite a few other things. And I had to go our to bring 3 of my kids to school… But now I am sitting at the fire place, which has a merry little fire in it, and starting off on another tatting adventure with you. Thank you so much for making my very cold morning so much warmer!
I am using size 20 Lizbeth, in the color way 127 - Butterfly Breeze. It sure looks like a caterpillar at this stage, but then it almost always does. I am personally thinking it might also look like the leg of a giraffe? LOL"

Polish tatters are really coming into my inbox today I'm delighted to say. This time it's Joanna who says:
"Hi Jane, thank you for TIAS 2018. I’m using Lizbeth thread 185 - my favorite color. Maybe it’s a ladybug 🐞I can’t wait till day 2.
See you soon,
Joanna from Warsaw, Poland"

Next to arrive is another of our lovely Hungarian tatters. It's Zsuzsa who says:
"Köszönöm a lehetƑsĂ©get, kezdƑkĂ©nt jĂł kis gyakorlĂĄs. Így sikerĂŒlt az elsƑ nap
Thank you for the opportunity to start a good exercise. We managed the first day"

Zsuzsa is followed by Jutka who is also from Hungary!!! I think the Hungarian tatters are all going to enjoy the TIAS.
"Kedves Jane!
Gömöri Ferencné, Jutka vagyok Magyarorszågról.
Egy éve tanulom a hajócsipke készítését.
Nagyon nagy szerelmem.
Örömmel veszek rĂ©szt ebben a jĂĄtĂ©kban. Az elsƑ napi feladat megoldĂĄsa.
Üdvözlettel
Jutka

"Here is my day one. I did not receive any email for day one. Just wanted to let you know.
A caterpillar is my guess."
Oh, Denise, I don't send out emails as I never know who's going to take part. I just ask people to visit this blog from time to time to get the links. Sorry.

After a year's break Maria is back for the 2018 TIAS. She says:
"Hi Jane! Marla from Idaho here
I’ve been looking forward to this years adventure as I missed last years.
Here is my day 1, and I am sure no matter what I guess it will be something entirely different.
I am using Lisbeth ‘Herbal Garden’ size 20 for this part so I am sincerely hoping it doesn’t turn out to be something like ‘Strawberry Shortcake’ ....
or mine will look terribly moldy!!!!"

The next offering is from Mackenzie who has cleverly worked out what the TIAS will be! She says:
"Well another 96 and we might have a cute centipede"

Just arrived from Poland is Lucyna. She's sent her picture and her comment which is:
"If two small beads are planned, they will definitely be eyes. So an animal ... maybe a cat."
Thank you to Barbara for helping Lucyna.

""Hallo Jane, greetings from Poland, thank you for working in TIAS 2018. It will be important :) I'm sorry my English is weak."

This is my first challenge. Thank you so much for creating this! His is also my first attempt at split rings. Few errors, but I'm going to try to keep going.

I don't remember how to post photos, so this is an attempt at drag-and-drop. Hopefully it works.
Delighted I can participate this year but am very sad it won't continue. Love your designs!
The only shuttles I have with me have laceweight yarn on them, hence the fuzzy effect here.
