Thursday - again!

Today I'm proud to add Clare's pram. She doesn't live that far away from me - roughly twenty miles away in Banbury. You'll have heard of Banbury. Remember the nursery rhyme 'Ride a Cock Horse? Here's a link for you.  Here's what she says.
105. "Hi Jane
Just finished the pram last night - I have been out a lot today but managed to get it tidied up - I struggle with the ends and did try hiding them in the rings but couldn't manage. Anyway how I get over that is to put whatever I have made into a water and craft glue mix to set it then I cut off the ends! I have tried sowing them in but this works for me.
I now need to find another project to start this evening so will be looking at your patter website, I don't do a lot at a time but it is good to have something to fiddle with.
Thank you for this pattern I learned a lot more and have got really confident with my split rings, but still need to do work on the Catherine wheel join, but am not too bad at the split chain now. Being left handed it is a question of learning how and then finding the easiest way to adapt it to left handedness.
I will keep in touch.
All the best
Clare (from Banbury)"

Wednesday

Today I'm pleased to announce the arrival of Prabhjyot who says the following.
104. "Hello Jane,
After storm tatting my TIAS the other day, I didn't get a chance to take care of the ends and I didn't want to send you the pictures without finishing it up. Today I am sending you two pictures of my TIAS day 11.
Thanks for the exciting world of TIAS. I am already looking forward to the next TIAS.
Regards,
Prabhjyot"

Tuesday

I had a bit of a brain problem on Sunday - put it down to stress in my life which is now sorted for a while. I got my numbers muddled up!!! I work from a big desktop computer and a laptop (in the evenings) and save the pictures on an intermediary hard wifi disc. Trouble was that I missed a number out!!!!

So, having sorted it all now I can announce that today we truly do have 100 prams.

100. "Jane., This pattern is from Joanne Hayes., Santa Claus., Indiana USA., this is her second time to do the TIAS., she is a beginner tatter and doing very well., She used Tropical Punch # 132 and Light Lemon #614 Lizbeth thread. She is also waiting for the next TIASthanks Mary Jane"

Next in is from Sharon who says:-
101. "HI Jane
Here is my finished Pram from Des Moines, Iowa. How funny it was a pram and it stated on Jan. 11. My grandson and his wife had their baby on Jan. 11. It was a boy so that makes about 12 great grandchildren now.
I really enjoyed the TIAS.
Thanks
Sharon"

Shelley has just sent in her finished pram with this comment:-
102. "Wow 100 participants - that is great. It was a lot of fun. Thank you for the game."

Bridget has just caught me on the way to bed and she says:-
103. "Okay, Jane, here's my pram. It's my first TIAS and I can see that I needed to pay more attention to tension (!) because one of the chains is very lanky. I used Lizbeth #153, Rainbow Taffy, which is a lot more attractive done up than it is on the ball, I found. The solid is #656, Wedgewood Dark.
At first I was expecting a flower pot, mostly because I am so ready for spring to arrive. Then when you suggested a solid color to finish I realized the next steps were probably not going to be flowers....
In order to finish I had to learn some new techniques, which I really enjoyed. I've started a bookmark with split rings so I can practice more. I'm not sure my lock chain was done right, but it's another thing I'm looking forward to practicing.
Thank you, it was fun!
Bridget, who finally finished digging out from the 19" of snow, in Amarillo, Texas."

Sunday!!

Well we're nearing the 100 mark and I'm a VERY happy bunny over that!!!

Today I have Karla's finished pram in and she says:-
98. "WOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
I finished it!!!! I've been banging my head against the wall for the past... two weeks, practically, trying to get to tatting and for some reason I kept finding even the littlest thing to be a gargantuan effort--I'm happy to say that the reason for my general exhaustion (my Chemistry class) is still thoroughly whupped, though not without giving me a whack or two back >_<

I kept hearing "We are the champions" in my head when I finished it =D

^_^--
From My Secret Underground Bunker in Switzerland"

Now we have Beelizabeth who says:-
99. "Jane,
You asked why people seem to drop out of the TIAS. I don't know about others, but after my bout with the flu, I found myself with stomach problems. Now, I've had stomach troubles since the day I was born and this was not the same. I absolutely love TIAS each year but this year I was feeling so rotten I didn't even check for and download the new part. I actually did 2 part at the same time the day after the one was released. I finally realized that my gall bladder did not like where it was living and wanted to relocate. It realized too late that if it was evicted from its current accommodations, its only other option was total homelessness. Eviction proceedings were successfully carried out and I'm working on healing. So here is my completed pram, which, coincidentally was started about the time my second son and his wife informed us that their 1 year old Annabelle was going to be a big sister. Enough rambling.
(Beelizabeth online)"
Oh, I'm SO sorry to hear about your gall bladder problems.  Hope you have lots of tatting time as you heal.  Also thank you for your finished pram too.

Saturday

Well here I am on the way to bed and wondering what had happened to the day when along comes another pram!!! Thank you, Suzanne.
98. "Dear Jane,
Here, at long last, is my finished pram. As always, it was a fun journey. This piece is a marvel of tatting design: the key elements that make a pram a pram stand out proudly; and the pattern was interesting, but not brain boggling. Brain cell number 3 can give itself a great big pat on the back. Thank you for all your hard work. We do love the TIAS!
with warmest regards,
Suzanne"

Friday

Creeping closer to the magic number 100 and this is the first one in today.

This is from Mary Jane on behalf of - well, let her tell you!!!
96. Jane., this is from Dorcas Ann Newkirk from Evansville, Indiana USA.   She used cotton perle # 8 color 704., kept everything in same color., We both enjoy your TIAS., very much., waiting for the next one., and like the way you put the pattern up., just right for us., OH., I am writing for Dorcas., Mary Jane maybe she will be #100"

Although Cheryl has already sent in her finished TIAS prams I had to share this with you. It obviously isn't number 97 as she's been counted previously!!!  Aren't they pretty?  Here's what Cheryl says:-
"Here are my two prams put on little greeting cards. I took them to my knitters group last night and they oooohed and awwwed over them. A few hinted that they would be calling me for one in pink or blue when they knew what someone had for a baby. So your pram is a big hit, Jane. Don’t change a thing on this TIAS, it’s great the way it is. Thanks."

Next in is from Lenka with a very pretty picture and who says:-
97. "Dear Jane, I participated in your Tias and I enjoyed it. I've got a few deviations from the original, but I did not do them on purpose. I used yarn Maxi. I'm sorry, I do not speak English, I use translator. I am from the Czech Republic."

Thursday - 91 and more

First in today is from Denise who says:-=
91. "This was another fun TIAS. I'm glad you run these every year. I learned lots in this one as well. It took me a few days longer to finish because the two new puppies have taken up lots of my craft time.
Here is my finished pram. And a photo of the two pups: Walnut and Fig. They love curling up in this tiny bed together
--Denise from Texas"

Next in is Martha's finished pram. She says:-
92. "I did eventually finish the TIAS a week or so ago. My colors aren't very babyish, but if you tell us which colors to use, then we might guess the answer too soon, and there wouldn't be all the lovely variety in everyone's samples."

Next to drop in is Katharine who has been playing at waiting to be number 100!!! This is what she says:-
93. "Hi Jane,
I hope all is well. Finally, here is my TIAS. I was holding out to hopefully be the 100th entry. I guess I should have checked the TIAS website first to see where the count was. Oh well."

Now I have Helen's finished pram and she says:-
94. "Hello Jane,
It took me a bit longer then expected, that was because I got the flu. I am better now and here is my pram. I am from the Netherlands by the way. I don't have suggestions for the next TIAS, I think it went all very smoothly. Thanks again for all you hard work, I enjoyed it tremendously.
Greetings Helen"

Betty's pram has just arrived and this makes us up to 95. She says:-
95. "Dear Jane and Dear Riet,
I loved it to follow the TIAS.
My husband already said it will be a perambulator on day 7 (in Dutch een
kinderwagen)
I send you a photo of the result.
Thank you for the Tias and I look forward to the next one.
Greetings from
Betty Vos- den Blanken
Netherlands"

Wednesday

Another Wednesday has come round and another two prams too from Marjorie. She says:-
90. "Returned last Monday but had no time that weekend for tatting. Finally finished both prams this morning, so here they are!
The new tatting abbreviations sometimes get to me, especially the - for a picot. I'm used to seeing letters or abbreviations. I also drove myself nuts by having trouble with the first stitch of the second half of a SR. They always seem to want to flip in spite of great care. I tried pulling up one and it just plain broke.
Pram One (the larger one) is in leftover green and white in size 40. I purposefully used a solid lavendar with the variegated thread so I could see what was going on in there. Its handle and wheels are in pink. I used this one for practice, before tackling the smaller threads I had picked out for the project.
Pram Two (smaller) is in Flora HH size 50, Color 83. Despite the photos, it is bright pink and medium blue, with purple transitions. I think it goes well with the DMC size 80 in color 553. The 50 and the 80 are the same size, despite different numbers.
The tiny size of 3/3 split rings almost got me when working in the size 80(50?) threads. Wow. I took out quite a few stitches to get things right!
Thanks for a good learning experience with plenty of company in the attempt!
I practiced hiding ends; the Catherine Wheel join; lock chains; split rings; split chains; and opening rings and/or fixing mistakes. What a lot of practice."

Tuesday

Today I have Joanie's finished pram with the following comment:-

88. "Here is my TIAS. I finished it up at the golf course on Friday. I just finished working in the ends. I STILL think it looks like a Publix shopping cart with some funny stuff sticking out of it! I hope there was enough participation to warrant doing another one next year! I so enjoy working on your TIAS each year. It gives me something to look forward to, even if I didn't "play" and read the blog each day like in the past! It was still fun and I think you/we have a lot of funny and silly tatting friends!!! Thank you for all the work you do getting the TIAS ready for us!!!"

Now I HAVE to add this hippopotamus to the TIAS site as it was made by Clare who has worked it as a TIAS.  This goes to prove that the TIAS can be worked as and when a person likes!!!  Clare is about to start this year's TIAS and guess what?  She lives quite close to me - 20 miles away!!

Last today (my bedtime!!) is from Jennifer who says this:-

89. "Stumped me on this one. I thought it was going to be a hen. Will use it for a card later. I had to go to the library this year to get the pattern bits, Totally worth it. I used lizbeth niagra falls and pineapple parfait. -Thanks again for the fun from Missouri, USA"

Monday, 18 February 2013

Monday - yes, another Monday!!!!

I have another pram this morning. This is from Judy who says:-
84. "Lizbeth 20 leaf green and a variegated color to.match."

Next in is from Gloria who has this to say:-
85. "Hi Jane,We had our guild meeting Saturday and there were a few of them that had done the TIAS but did not send you a picture. So I am sending this one for Gloria Grumman. She said to tell you Hi!
Gloria is from SC and it looks like she used Lizbeth thread in size 20."

Now I have Gunhild's finished pram. What a picture!!! Pimboli looks as if he's having fun!
86. "Hallo Jane, wow...Pimboli was having a lot of fun in his new "pram rollercoaster", I didn't see him for a while ,,,,but finally I could take a picture of him...
thanks for all the fun having a TIAS 2013 from you and for your many efforts!! It's so nice to have such a cute pram pattern! I was late starting this year! I am tatting in germany, tatted the pram with a very thin valdani thread with shuttle (the lilac roles) and needle (all the rest). I will post all Pimboli pictures on my blog gunis-perlenwahn.blogspot.com! See you soon in tatland, hugs Gunhild"
Next in is from Sunela who says:-
87. "Jane,
My mind is playing tricks now. I was sure I send you this picture a day or so after you posted the final day directions. Looking thru' the blog I realized my version wasn't there and I presumed I forgot to email you. So, I emailed you on Saturday but haven't heard from you as I normally did. Hence, I am wondering whether the email system is playing a trick on me. Let me know if you receive this please.
Hugs,
Sunela"

Sunday, 17 February 2013

Sunday's prams arriving.

I have more prams - I'm a happy old lady today!!!!

First in is from Jeanne. She says:-
81. "Hi Jane,

here is my Pram. Thanks for this TIAS.
I used size 20 Lizbeth in Ocean Sunset and Boysenberry Dark. The handle is size 20 Manuela gold. I don't know the number.
My location is North Dakota USA."

Next in overnight is from Fiona who saysL-
82. "Hi Jane,
Finally got a chance to sew in the ends and take a picture of my TIAS work this year. Thanks for running this again, it is great to be a part of.
It was made in size 40 Lizbeth 'Autumn leaves', with size 40 red Milford Mercerised cotton contrast (wheels and handle).
All the best
Fiona T"

Now I have Sharren's days 9, 10 and her final pram too. She says:-
83. "Hi Jane!
I couldn’t remember if I’d sent you Day 9, so here it is, along with Days 10 and 11, What an imaginative design! Really enjoyed working on it and trying to guess what it would turn out to be. I can’t wait to see what you’ve got in store for us in 2014!!

Saturday

Just one pram in this morning from Grazyna who says:-
75. "Witam. Ukończyłam TIAS 2013, moje kolejne dni można zobaczyć na blogu
Serdecznie dziękuję za miłe wspólne tworzenie, mam nadzieję, że jeszcze kiedyś będę mogła wspólnie z innymi tworzyć coś cudnego.
Pozdrawiam

GrażynaO,

Again in English

Welcome. I graduated from TIAS 2013, my next day you can see on the blog. Thank you for your nice joint creation, I hope that even someday I'll be able to jointly create something marvelous. GrażynaO Regards,"

Nearly lunchtime (I'm STARVING) and I now have Elfriede's completed pram. She says:-

76. "Hi Jane!

Here is the finished pram I really loved doing it thank you so much for the pattern an your time.
Finished project Manuela (M205) for the body and Coats AIDA reed (47) for the wheels and handle.
Best Wishes
Elfriede
Esslingen Germany"

Jon has just popped in all the way from Malaysia. She says:-
77. "Hi Jane,
My pram is done. It took a few days because I couldn't find a contrasting thread in size 20 that can go with the HDT of the pram's carriage. Finally decided to use the Manuela thread, one of the last two balls that I still have. It is a pity that the Manuela thread is not manufactured anymore because I quite like tatting with it.
Thank you for another interesting round of TIAS and will be looking forward for the next one.
Jon"

Well you've GOT to read Dorcas's comments on her days 9, 10 and her final pram. This must be the most travelled TIAS in the world!!!
"This is really late, but after a hectic week of getting ready for a cruise followed by a week in the Caribbean with no internet, this is the best I could do. I am not even off the ship yet. Thankfully, we were not on the ill fated Triumph.
I can't wait to down load the remaining day(s) and get this finished.
At this point I am saying it is a baby carriage.
Getting back to reality,
Dorcas"

78. "My baby carriage is finished (except the sewing in of the ends which is a bit tricky in a car). Thanks Jane, for the fun and all your work on this. The thread is a Liz Beth 20 but I have forgotten which one. It loois like several people have uused it though.

This carriage has traveled the Carribean - from Oklahoma, to New Orleans for Mardis Grass weekend (not my cup of tea), to Jamaica, George Town on Grand Cayman, to Cozumel and back to terra fermma in New Orleans. We made it through customs in record time and into our car by 9:00. The last step is now done by 10:45.
Thanks all,
Dorcas"

Now I have another new arrival in the TIAS 2013. This is from Grace. She says:-
79. "Hello, this is my 3rd time doing TIAS but is my first time posting my results to you. Thank you for doing the TIAS, I enjoyed it a lot and force me to learn new tricks and refresh on the one I know but rarely used. My pram doesn't look too steady due to that I turn the first ring of the leg part wrong direction when I was joining the picot. I guess I must have forced a join where it shouldn't be joined. But none the less, I still am proud of my TIAS and am delighted seeing how some people put them on family pictures."
I am very proud of you too, Grace and thank you for taking the time to do the TIAS too.

Next is Nicole who has just popped into my inbox. She says:-
80. "Dear Jane,
I forgot to take a photo and send you Day 10, but here's finally my Day 11. Thank you so much for the whole experience, I really enjoyed it and I learned a lot.
I decided to tat it in one color, 369 DMC Babylo 20. In day 9 I ran out of thread and of course there was too much left on my shuttles after that :)
Best wishes from the Netherlands,
Nicole"

Friday's prams

First in this morning is Liz's day 9 with her comment as follows:-
"Here is day 9I am looking for a solid color for day 10 and 11
Thanks

Next and last in this morning is Lyn who has sent in days 10 and 11. She says:-
74. "Hi Jane,Here are my last 2 days, it's very cute! Thank you so much for all The time and effort that you put into TAIS. Thanks to all the others for their wonderful photos and comments, very enjoyable. Just showed my husband expecting praise and what did he say "a wheelbarrow for a kid" lol! Men!!
Regards
Lyn from Oz"
"Forgot to tell you, the thread I used for the pram was Coats size 20, colour 893 for the body and 459 for the wheels and pram handles."

Thursday, 14 February 2013

Thursday's finished prams!

Good morning and a few more prams have arrived.

First in is from Stacy who says this:-

69. "Hi Jane,

Thank you so much for hosting the TIAS. I think I did pretty well for a new tatter and this will look great on a card for my new niece when she arrives in March.

I used Graceful Arts Handpainted size 40 in Rhapsody for the buggy and Lisbeth size 20 in colour number 615 for the wheels and handle.

Stacy (from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada)"

Next in is Svet from TN in the USA and who has had a problem with getting her picture to me!!! No worries, Svet, I think a lot of people must be slow sending theirs in too!!!!

70. "Hi Jane,I was quick to tat, slow to email a picture. I finished this the morning the last day came out. Thank you for the fun these past few weeks. I look forward to doing it again!

Cheers,

Svet."

I'm not sure where Svet comes from so I'll ask her and add it in later.

Next in is another tatter from Malaysia who has this to say:-
71. "Hello Jane,My completed pram - thread used are Lizbeth 20 Denim Whisper and vintage Coats 20 8749 - navy blue. I actually managed to tat the last 2 instalments in the midst of a frantic Chinese New Year schedule! Thanks again for the yearly wonderful fun and am now anticipating Tias 2014!
Bravo!!!
Jacee - Malaysia"
Well, Jacee, I hope there is another TIAS in 2014 - the prams are very slow coming in and I'm wondering if people just didn't like what they were making when they realised what it was.

The next in my inbox this morning is Coretta who has sent in days 10 and her finished pram.
72. "Thank you so much for the fun this year! Sorry for the poor picture quality, my only tat time is after the kids go to bed and sometimes I am just to tired to do the whole camera/ computer thing. So an iPod picture is where I am at tonight since I completed it last night and didn't get to take a decent picture today.

Anyways, days ten and eleven. I'm so glad I chose this color of thread. I have two nieces due this year. Wonderful! Oh yes, I forgot to add thread too - 20 GreenGal's HDT varied pinks and size 20 DMC cordonnet color 3326 Florida, USA"

Finally this morning I have Linda who says:-
73. "Hello,
Thank you for sharing and posting your tias. This is my first year I have tried to do this.
I enjoy your blog and love to tat for myself.
Linda"
Linda is from the USA.

Now this one doesn't count as it's the pram that Helene has already sent in but I had to show you what she'd done with it. Couldn't resist sharing.
