Sunday 6 May 2012

Sunday May 6th

107.  I'm delighted to tell you that another goat has arrived today.  This one is from Vicky who says:-
"Hi Jane,
camera has turned up.  spot all the mistakes and twists, still never mind-at least it is completed and it gives him character!!!!"

Wednesday 21 March 2012

A field of goats.

Look what Riet sent in on Monday - a field of goats!!!
In spite of a very bad cold Riet went to her guild meeting last weekend and these all came along too.  Did you know that Riet translates the TIAS each year for the Dutch tatters?  She also gallantly picks up on all my mistakes too!!!

Thank you, Riet and also thank you to all her guild.

Friday 9 March 2012

Friday 9th March

Whoopeeee, another goat. This time from Jon.

106. This is what Jon says:-
"This straggler finally came in! Considering that it had to make a long journey, I am not that surprised that it took so long.
Well, there were a lot of distractions along the way and I think he lost his way a few times. But, he knew he belong to the herd. His eyes almost turned red from lack of sleep trying to find his way there. Coming from a warm climate, his nose froze from the cold and turned icy and white. Hopefully, with the warmth of the barn he will recover soon and will roam freely.
Jon"

Thursday 8 March 2012

Late on Thursday evening

Well another welcome surprise is another goat from Brigitte.

105. This is what she has to say:-
"Thank you so much for your latest TIAS. I participated and had the best time trying to figure out what it would be. By the time we tatted the horn and ear I knew if would be a goat. If I had known that beforehand, I would have used any other color than boysenberry! LOL! Sorry I am so late getting it to you, I don’t have a scanner at home and I have been extremely busy at work. But here it is finally."

Tuesday 6 March 2012

Tuesday 6th March

Here's number

104. Thank you to Liz D who says:-
"Here he is! Sorry it took me so long to finish. The small bead in his eye is so close to the color of the thread that it is barely noticeable, but I like him just the same. Thanks so much Jane for another great pattern and the accompanying fun.
Liz"
No problem, Liz - sometimes a TIAS can arrive up to a year later!!!!

Sunday 4 March 2012

Sunday 4th March

This is SO exciting. Just as I'd almost forgotten the TIAS 2012 more goats are strolling in.

103 This one is from Claire in the USA and she says:-"A friend and I participated in your TIAS again this year. Last year was the first time we participated. It really had us going for quite some time trying to figure out what it would turn out to be. My goat would have looked better in a solid color, but this guy will stick out in the herd! Was the small bead suppose to be for the eye or the nose? I'm wondering if I read the directions wrong when I put the beads on to begin with? My printer would not let me scan anything. Finally got it fixed.
Claire, Richland, Washington--USA"

Saturday 3 March 2012

Saturday 3rd March

What a lovely surprise to have two more goats to add to the herd. Both arrived this evening thanks to Mary Jane. Thank you.

98. Now I have a goat from Korea. Thank you, Lim. Here's what she says:-
"Hi, Jane. This is Lim Jihyun who live in Korea. I'm glad that I could finish TIAS at last. It took long time to complete TIAS 2012.
I was busy and couldn't take my TIAS in my hand. And now, I completed it.
My goat eye is too large. Next time, I should use black smaller one. Thank you for the TIAS."

Dear Val from Val's Simple Passions kindly sent in another goat in an effort to make the 100th. Sadly it's not the amount of goats I'm counting but how many people took part. I want to award a mark of 20 out of 10 to Val for trying and I'm posting her goat for you all to see. Thanks, Val.  Next time I'll make it clearer - sorrrrryyyyy.

99. Well here we are - nearly there at the amount of people taking part that I was hoping for. This offering is from Jenni who says:-
"Here's my finished goat. I don't have a tatting blog, though."

Saturday 18 February 2012

Saturday

Slowly creeping up!!! Today I have another goat.

87. Today's goat has come from Carol and she says:-
"Hi Jane,
I'm finally getting around to sending you a picture of my TIAS. I really enjoyed it again this year. It actually worked quite well for me being that the pattern was given in parts. I'm working 10 hrs a day 4 days a week right now between my two jobs. So needless to say I've been a bit tired in the evenings and haven't done much tatting. So the TIAS was perfect right now. I would do a little tatting and felt like I accomplished something. Love the names you gave your goats!!
Thank you again for the fun!! "

88. Now I have Dani's goat and she says:-
"hi Jane!
i finally have the time to get you my goat. (heh, usually one is said to get another's goat, not give other's their own goat...)
i didn't read the directions first, so i didn't have any beads. so i put in some loop-tatted (or whatever they're called) josephine rings... a little big, i know, but it sort of works...
thanks for the ride!
dani, the geek"

89 and 90. I now have two goats. They've been sent in together by Geraldine. Let her explain:-
"Hi Jane
to-day meet with my friend Karen and went to west Midlands tat day. While we were there we compared are goats and let them play together Karen's is the white one so please add this to your list.
happy tatting,
Geraldine
PS Karen says she gave her goat a shave for the summer."

91. Next in is from Sharon. She says:-
"Hi Jane
Here is my Goat. Lived on a farm a lot of the time as a kid and we never had such pretty colored Goats.
Even got butted a few time from a couple of them. You just half to remember not turn your back on them.
Had to turn on old computer so I could get it scanned Half to fine a 64 bit driver so it will scan to this computer.

Tuesday 14 February 2012

Tuesday

Good morning once again!!!! I have a few more additions to this TIAS I'm pleased to say.

81. First in this morning is from Leah who says:-
"Thanks so much for another fun TIAS! Attached is my finished billy goat. I posted progress along the way on my blog willardofcats dot blogspot dot com. Thanks again!"

82. Next in is from Martha. I thought the other day that Martha was having problems with the TIAS as she was constantly changing shuttles but now I know she was just trying to trick us all!!!!
"Dear Jane,
Here I am done at last! Of course, each part took only a few minutes, but I've been easily distracted lately. This was both a lot of fun for the game and a great pattern as well.
For the record: North Carolina, USA. Two tatting blogs: http://marthas-tatting-blog.blogspot.com/ and http://tatting-origins.blogspot.com/
Silly guesses seemed to be thriving, so I looked for another way for my own extra fun factor. Did anyone guess my game? I pretended to use a different set of shuttles everyday. I finished up with my largest and smallest shuttles together for an unlikely combination.
Take care,
Martha"

83. Now I have Wendy from here in the UK's goat and she says:-
"Hello Jane,Here he is, Billy Goat Gruff.. I really enjoyed tatting him. One of your best. Thanks for all your hard work putting it together.
Wendy x"

84.

Monday 13 February 2012

Monday

Good Monday morning, Tat Land.

77. First in today and from here in the UK is from Adrian who says:-
"Hi Jane
Here are my completed goats. I think the white one is a stubborn old goat, he's clearly digging his heels it, while the pink and blue one looks a little more active. :)
Many many thanks for running this Tat it and See, it's been great fun and I've learned to use a couple of techniques that I'd never tried before.
I can't wait until the next one. :)
Adrian"

78. Now I have Riet's goat. Sorry, goatS. Riet was one of my test tatters and also translated the whole thing into Dutch for her guild. She deserves a huge thank you alongside Gina too. Here is what she says:-
"Hi Jane,Here is my goat. It is Father Goat and his little Boy. Mum will come later, (the old git is preparing her outfit!!!)
Father is tatted with Oran Bayan number 50 The little one is tatted with DMC cordonnet special number 100.
You will find them on my blog:
http://b-engel.blogspot.com/
hugs and greetings
Riet the B-engel"

79. Next in is a goat from Poland and from Gosia. This is what she says:-
"Dear Jane,I've enjoyed very much tatting according to your instructions.
This is so clever project: short, in small pieces, with a variety of
techniques. Thank you for the TIAS.
So here is my orange goat (or Capricorn as one of my friends said :).
regards,
Gosia
from Poland
2kotowo.blogspot.com
ps. name Gosia is diminutive from Margaret :)."

80. Now I have Marty's goat and she says:-
"So much for my blue kiwi. No matter which way I turn it -- it looks just like a goat! Blue's not very goat-like, but maybe he's just cold. My niece is delighted with this one because, "It's sooooo cute!" This was a really fun TIAS, thanks for your efforts, Jane.Marty

Sunday 12 February 2012

Sunday's additions!!

I have had a big temptation here today!!! I've been counting people taking part in this year's TIAS and NOT the quantity of goats!!! We had 70 (a nice round figure) when I went to bed last night and I'm still hoping to hit 100. So, when the first ones in my inbox happened to be a herd of four from one person then I was tempted to make that up to 74!! BUT I'm not a cheat so this counts as number 71!!!!

71. The four I've been talking about are from Katie who says:-
"Hi, Jane,
TIAS 2012
Button girl, hippo, rooster, and plane,
and now we’ve all done it a-gain.
The game’s over this year,
but we end with a cheer:
Jane’s the goatherd of Tatters’ Domain!
Happy, tatty, goaty hugs to you, Jane!
Katie Verna from Creedmoor NC USA, member of the Raleigh Tri-tatters"

Next in is also not counted - grrrrr!!!! Cynthia has sent in her second goat alongside the first which entered the goat's grazing land on Thursday. Cynthia says:-
"Jane I got both Cappry and Corn (yes bad pun I know) But the goat is the astrology sign for Capricorn...I did one for each sleeve of the shirt I got at Palmettos last year. Peace, Cyn"

72. Next in is from Lynne. I'm waiting to hear where she lives but meanwhile so that I don't 'lose the plot' I'm adding her to the blog with her gorgeous pink goat. This is what she said:-
"Hi Jane,Got my little guy finished, he is so cute!
Lynne"

HOTP (hot off the press) from Lynne - she's in America. She added this:-
"I’m from Poulsbo, Washington – Pacific North—Wet---West Don’t have a blog."

73. Now I have another goat from Emilia in The Netherlands. She says:-
"Hi Jane,
Here is another goat for your herd. I think they all look very pretty . I did enjoy making the goat and it is a pity that it is finished. I am looking forward to the next challenge you have for us.
Thank you so much for all the fun.
With kind regard Emilia"

74. Next to pop in is from Mariya who lives in Russia. Here's her comment and that is followed by her goats!!!
"Dear Jane,
Yesterday I finally finished tatting my Winter - blue goat. I wanted to send it's photo to you, but it was so sad that TIAS is over and so lonely that I couldn't resist and tatted a friend for it - Spring! Now they are happy to be together discussing weather and some their goatish themes I know nothing about!
Well, we three are from St.Petersburg, Russia. My tatting blog is http://mariyas-tatting.blogspot.com/. Thank you for TIAS, Jane, it was so exciting! Did you ever think to make it more often, like 3-4 times a year? ;)
Regards,
Mariya"

75. Whoopeeee, 75!!! Here is Sharon's goat and her comment too:-
"Hi, Jane!
No clever comments here, heh. I greatly enjoy your TIAS series, and every year it renews my Tatting Enthusiasm. :-) Thank you so much for putting doing these.
Please find attached my contribution, to help you reach your 100-goat goal!
regards,
sharon
Timberlake, NC"

76. Next in is from Jessica who says:-
"Jane!
Here's a picture of P.W. that I captured just as she was running away in fear.
What was she so afraid of you ask?
She said she saw a UFO that resembled a headless, legless goat.
Oh yea, I'm from Collierville, TN, USA and can be found at http://jess-tats.blogspot.com/
Thanks for the fun Jane!
-Jess!"

Saturday 11 February 2012

Saturday and more goats!!

Thank you to everybody who has sent in goats already. This blog will remain open for goats for the next year!!! There are now 58 in and I'm seriously keeping my fingers crossed that we make 100. That's my target!!! I have a few more in this morning which are as follows.

59.   So, first this morning is from Anita with some wonderful pictures and a great explanation too.  Here's her offering:-
"Dear Jane,
Well, we've gone through quite an evolution since day one. Here's my collage of days 2-11.

I decided to take Tatters home, for after all, where is a goat more satisfied than at home, eating the clothes off the clothesline??
A bit of explanation about the picture.
The 5th Wheel RV in the background is our home...we travel full time. Our roots are in Indiana, where our family still lives. In the summer, we often camp host at a State Park there. Of course, as in many parks, there is a rule against having a clothesline out front. I compiled this photo as a joke for our coordinator and titled it "On Connie's Day Off".
It provided the perfect backdrop for Tatter's final appearance.

I have enjoyed this so much, Jane! I hope to eventually be able to design some of my own tatting ideas, and your patterns give me such inspiration. I love to see how you manage to get from one element to another, such as you did to get back up the legs.
Thanks for another great TIAS!
My blog is at http://sparemomentstitching.wordpress.com/ and there's a whole page there on this year's TIAS!
Anita, aka Yuma Tatter, Arizona, USA, (or wherever we happen to be parked)"

60. Well, WHAT a coincidence. The next goat into my inbox is from Bernice who is a RVer too and in (I think!) roughly the same area as Anita. Wonder if they've ever met up? Perhaps the TIAS will become a 'dating agency' too?!?!?  Anyway, enough of me - let's hear from Bernice:-
"TIAS Day 12 I love the goat....it was fun to make. Thanks Jane for doing this for us. Bernice O Yuma, AZ for the winter. I am a full time RVer and I needle tat. I have a Blog http://timeusebybernice.wordpress.com/"

61. Now I have another American goat from Phyllis who says:-
"Hello Jane and all fellow tatters. Just finished my goat and am impressed. Learned several new techniques which I am incorporating into current and future projects. It went by so quickly and had alot of fun. Will wait patiently for next year. Phyllis in Dallas, GA (no blog yet)"

62.   Next in is from Rose Anne in Canada.  Hi, Rose Anne.  This is what she says:-
"I'm kinda sorry that I used the green shade of cotton but glad I chose the pearls - kind of classy looking is my "gruff goat" minus this scraggly goatie!!!
I just LOVE these TIAS - Tat it and See what it grows up to be!!!  It's too bad Jane does these only yearly, but I'm sure it takes ages to plan them out and then prepare the individual steps for all of us to enjoy!  So yes I will wait patiently for the next one.
BUT in the mean time I think I'm going to prepare a type of CQd block for the two I've participated in and do some kind of wall hanging that will grow with each new TIAS I participate in.  Yep I like this plan more and more."

63.   Now I have Sue Anna's Mark the goat and she says:-
"Sad to see the game done but happy to see Mark standing on all fours! His new home is in Northern ,IL. USA. And as soon as his umbilical cords are hidden he can be blocked. His mom's blog can be found at http://sueannasblog.blogspot.com/. :) Sue Anna"

64. Next in is from Sharon (in rhyme) who says this:-
"Hi, Jane
What fun this has been! Thank you for the time that you have taken to design, teach and then make it all such a grand time. I will end with the last bit of the silly poem that took on a life of its own. These are from the Old Goat himself.
Sharon is sad but I am so glad
That I’m now off the floor
A jokester no more
I can frolic and play
But don’t shout “hooray”
For loud noises are why
Though I try, try , try , try
I can’t do my painting
Because I keep fainting.

Respectfully yours,
Sir Hainting the Fainting Goat
(Thank you Jane for designing me)
Sharon Cooke
Cary, NC, USA
I'm working on a blog but don't have it up an running yet.

Next in is from Martha with her day 11. She simply says:-
"Still rushing to catch up, puff, puff."

65. Now I have Liz's goat all the way from Australia. She says:-
"Thank you ever so much Jane for running this TIAS - I really enjoyed myself and am very pleased with the result.

66. Next is from Tine in The Netherlands. She says:-
"Hello Jane.

It was very funny to do your Tias. I am waiting for the next one.

67. Now I have Marco's goat.  Here's what Marco says:-
Hello Jane,,

Was a lot of funn to make it.
Hope there will be a tias soon!!!!!!!!!!!1111
Thanks for al the time you spend making this one .
You made a lot of people very happy.
Greetings untill next time
Marco "

68. Next in is from Monica.  Can you see what a long way her goat has had to travel on the map she's sent?  Monica says:-
"Hello Jane!
Good afternoon! I hope you are having a nice Saturday... Here I am, finally a bit late in the "race", but oh, I did have so much fun!
I am attaching my last day, and I hope to be able to make a blog post later today. My blog is creativasuculencia.wordpress.com. Thank for making this blog list, it is going to be fun to browse them! I think I'd like to do some sort of "growing goat" collage, I am enjoying the ones I saw. It's a pity I did not have that in mind when I started, so all the pics are different!
I also attach a small map so you can know where this goat was born! I really, really hope you can make a map with the goat locations - I love how they are all over the world!
Peace and greetings to you and to all my fellow tatters in this fun adventure!
Monica"

69. The next goat to arrive into the herd is from Jeff in Canada and he says:-
"Hi Jane,I have finally finished the TIAS. My Demonic Goat is finished. Actually, he doesn't seem as demonic now that he has all four legs! Hopefully I'll get around to tatting another goat in the near future. Thanks for hosting another TIAS!
Jeff

70. Next in with her days 8, 9, 10, 11 & 12 is Nicole who says:-
"Thanks so much! Again another great tias!!! Pics may be out of order sending from phone. But Im sure u can figure them out. I should have used different beads but these were on hand. Oh Im from the USA .... Hope u reached 100 !!!!!!"

71.
