Friday morning

Plenty of eye candy this morning.  DO read to the bottom especially Terri's as she COULD be right!!!!!

Starting off with Sunela who says:-
"I was not sure whether you wanted everyone's pictures.  I posted it in my blog.  In case, you want, here is my version of Day1.  http://beads-n-lace.blogspot.com

Here's Sue Anna's version of day 1 now:-
"Here is a link to my picture for my TIAS. Sue Anna.  My blog: http://sueannasblog.blogspot.com/
It is done in size 20 HDT 'Celery' made by Yarnplayer.

The next picture in is from J.B. who says:-
"Here is my day 1.  I am using Lizbeth’s March Breeze thread."

Now we have Bev's offering:-
"I'm using size 20 thread.  Yarnplayer's Vibrato, Tatskools RB Agua; haven't decided on third, but it will probably be magenta or chocolate brown Lizbeth. I really like that chocolate color."

Now we have Vanessa's day 1:-
"Thanks for running the tat-it and see.  Here is my product from day 1."

Next in is from Wendy S.  She's asking for clues!!!  Hmmmm, sorry Wendy, none at all!!!!!!!
"I know I am late but better late than never. I have done this in Anchor Pearl Cotton 8 in a multicolour pink. I love the colours the other tatters have chosen for this.  Could it be an insect of some kind? Just a wild guess. Any clues?"

Now, is Terri right or is she wrong?!?!?
"Here's my scan of Day 1 progress.  Today's Guess: The Great Wall of China - well, it could be...   This is so much fun!!"

Thursday - a bit later on!!!

Just in from Anita is her contribution!!  Here's what she says:-
"Jane, Here's my Day 1. I'm using #10 crochet cotton.  Decided to use Fiesta Colors to make it bright and fun!  I'm a new needle tatter, just learning the basic techniques.  Hope I can complete the project!"

Next in is from Heather who says:-
"I am going to keep up with this one... i hope :)   Heather"
Don't worry, Heather, I'm sure you'll keep up.

Now Caroline has sent her day 1 in.  She says:-
"Sorry for being slow.  New camera that took a while to figure out.  I am using Lizabeth thread size 20."

Next we have Geraldine's contribution and she says:-
"well Jane ,you have done it again, got us using are brain cells to think what brain #3 has come up with this time.mine at present looks like frog with no head. what a wonderful way to start the new year. "

Now the next day 1 is from Melanie who says:-
"Attached is my imperfect photo of my attempt at the TIAS day 1. I love puzzles and can't wait to see day 2!"

Thursday morning - early!

First one into my inbox this morning is from Bonnie.  She says this:-
"Here is my day 1.  I am using Tatskool's Coral Reef size 40 HDT. "

Next is Kika's contribution and here's what she has to say (thanks, Wally!):-
"Wally motivated us to participate in mini-challenges of a mysterious pattern. I found it very entertaining, is also a pleasure to participate in something of yours, because your pattern site has been my guide."

One comment in today is from Mary who says:-
"This is my first time doing one of your TIAS, since it is in the 20's here I figure it is a good time to sit back and relax and take on a new project during this cold spell."
No picture attached so maybe there'll be one later, Mary?  OK, here it is.  Thanks, Mary.

Next is from Kelly who has this to say:-
"Hi Jane I am taking part in your TIAS but we do not have Outlook Express on our computer so I can't e-mail my picture to you. But I will keep up with posting each part on my blog. Fell free to copy and paste from there if you like. "
I've tried to upload your picture, Kelly, but it won't 'cooperate' with me at this moment in time!  I'll try again later!!!  Here's the link to your blog.

Now we have Liz's offering (Artlady).  She says her tension isn't good but believe me by the time she's finished this TIAS she'll be fine!!!!!  Personally I think it looks FINE.  Here's her remark:-
"I am attaching a copy of my piece.  The tension isn’t good however this is my first real attempt at SR so I was very excited when the rings closed.  Thank you very much for catering for me with this."

Early Wednesday evening!!!

More coming in and this one is from Debbie who says:-
"Last night I tried to put my work up, but my computer wasn't cooperating.  And my picture wouldn't upload.  I had a nice paragraph and ready to send and my comp. crashed!  Aaarrrrgh!
So, I will try this again.

I am a beginner and just took Georgias class (I will definitely take it again)I am so glad that she has this class for us.  I will try to keep up with everyone here.  This is Fun!"

Now we have Hannah who's comment is:-
" Here’s my day 1 photo – can’t wait for day 2! "

Next to send her day 1 in is Isabel from Sweden.  I see her piece is being guarded carefully!!!  Isabel says this:-
"Hi Jane here it's my first part of TIAS. It's my first time I'm participate in your TIAS. I don't know what kind of beautiful creature or other nice things will be appear. But I'm in the play of TIAS. Thank your for your TIAS."

Not long before my bedtime and Chris sent in her day 1.  This is what she said:-
"Not the best picture, I'm afraid, but there's only so much one can expect from a camera phone :)  I started on a whim, as I found a small ball of some thread I painted in my bag while at work and I needed a break from the computer. This bit is finger tatted, as it used such small lengths; I'll have to bring a couple shuttles in as the days go by, with some other thread colors. I'll not guess what it is quite yet. This oughta be fun! :)"

More on Wednesday!

This is Riet's contribution and she says this:-
"Here is my picture of Day 1.   I wonder if it is done well, looking at the drawing I don’t see a long chain.  I saw the day 2 drawing and there is the same. But I will wait and see maybe at the end I understand.  Nothing is gone a overhand knot in the chain can still be done."

Yes, Riet has got day 2 but only because she is kindly translating it all into Dutch for her friends in The Netherlands!!!  Your Day 1 looks fine to me, Riet.

Now here's Ginny's offering and this is her guess:-
"Here is my day 1 of the TIAS.  I think it is a Siamese Caterpillar."

Just checked my inbox and Ann has popped in!  She says this:-
"Here is my Day 1 of the TIAS!  I need to snip my beginning threads a little more closely, but will wait until I have a good night's sleep!  This is fun and I am quite excited, hence all the exclamation points!!!"

Whooopeeee - another.  This time from Dominique who has come up with a good guess!!!  Here's what she says"-
"Here is my day 1 of the TIAS in DMC variagated cotton n°80.  Could it  be a prawn/shrimp ?

Wednesday!!!

Here are some more Day 1's!!!

First that I've picked up is from Brenda who says:-
"Hi Jane. this is my tat and see.  Didn't know how to tie so left it."
Looks GREAT to me, Brenda.

Next is from Elizabeth who is suffering from the cold!!!  Try living HERE, Elizabeth!!!
"Here is my first part.  I managed to tat it even though it is so cold here.  Probably be 18 tonight.  So much for living in the south."

Now this is from Joanie - what a hoot, eh?
"I want to play too!!!  First is a picture of my TIAS!!! Oh wait, that is the one I had to finish so I would have shuttles for the NEW TIAS!  Second is the picture of the new TIAS!  Hopefully I can/will keep up with this TIAS!"

Now we have Deanne who says:-
"I had to finish this before I went to sleep.  It's Tuesday, 11:20pm here in Austin, TX.
I had a hard time but I think I did ok considering I'm a beginner.  Wasn't able to achieve working in the threads at the beginning so I sewed them in with needle and thread after it was completed.  Hope I can keep up with everyone.  I did learn a lot so this is a great experience for me."
Well done, Deanne.  You've made a fantastic start.

Now we have a comedienne amongst us - well, another!!!!!  This is from Martha Ess:-
"This is obviously going to be  a snowman with a fringed scarf."

Final one in on this first blog post of the day is IsDihara who says:-
"Here is my Day 1 attempt, made using Lizbeth size 40 in color 107 Tropical Fruit. Can't wait for Day 2 to be released."

Nearly missed Linda who'd found her way into my spam folder!!!!  Here's her contribution which is GREAT too:-
"This is the only way I know how to let you know my progress.... If I am doing it wrong please let me know.  This is interesting! I have never hid both threads at the same time. I have watched the progress of many TIAS but never participated because I never figured out how to do split rings. This fall I figured out the split rings and I am on a roll... Very good instructions, you have not lost me yet!  I am using size 20 Desert Bloom with orange and purple for second colors."

Next one!!

This has just come in at quarter past eight in the evening.  This is from Wanda who says:-

"Hello, Jane.
Well, here is my attempt at your TIAS.  I've never done one before so we'll see how it goes.  So far, so good!  I've used Lizbeth thread Caribbean in size 20 to do the first part.  Hmm, It kinda looks like a dragonfly without wings hanging onto another.  No, that's not a guess, just a comment! Looking forward to Day 2 to see what comes next!"

The next is from Stephanie P

Next in is Stephanie P's with the following comment:-
"Hi Jane,
Day One!  Woo hoo!  Here is my contribution.  I'm using Olympus for the variegated color. Haven't yet decided what the solids will be.  I'll make that decision when the time comes.  And with that, attached is my version of Day One!"

TIAS Day 1 - 3rd in!!!

Now here comes Heather!!  I must explain here that Heather is doing the transfer from needle to shuttles and doing it extremely well - even putting up with quite a lot of teasing from me along the way!!!!!  Anyway, enough of my input - here's what she says:-

"I feel like I done something wrong on this but when you dont know what you are tatting exactly its hard to say lol
You will be proud of me Jane I used shuttles (see attached pictures) I had to show you to prove it hee hee
I used size 10 thread the varigated is scrap color way dyed by me
This is going to be fun! It will give me better practice with the shuttle, I still didnt bury my needles maybe one day lol but I have been using the shuttle.
Did you get a chance to check out the motif I made with just the shuttle from design to finished piece
 THANKS for this
Have a great day err I can imagine its night there ;)"

TIAS Day 1 - 2nd in!!!

It's now just gone four in the afternoon in my wee corner of tat land and the second attempt at day 1 has come in from Denise.  This is what she says:-

"Well here is my attempt. I didn't quite understand the suggestion for hiding ends at the beginning, so I wound a little thread ctm two times. Now I have to make a bunch of variegated butterflies or something similar to use up what was leftover from both row 1 & 2. I did have to pick the first ring of row 2 apart because I just jumped in an started tatting ring 1 row 1 again, darn it!

I love split rings! I'm so happy to be doing another pattern with split rings. I can't wait for the next part to be released."

We're off!!!!

First one in is Katie Verna from North (if brain cell number 3 is remembering rightly) Carolina.  Here's what she says:-

"Here's my day one that needs to be edited!  Didn't read directions; just looked at the pic!!  So I'll go back and add the 16 st chain to SR 4.    Other booboo I made was to attach Ring 1 to Ring 5 upside down.  Good grief, nothing like watching what you're doing.  ;)  So opened the ring and fixed that.  Have to run to care for my grands, but I'm gonna make another one too in a different color combo.  These threads are Marilee Rockley's Rubarb pie and the solid red to match."

TIAS - Link to Day 1

OK, here you go!!!!! I'm putting this link on both blogs just so that I 'catch' you all!!!!

I will publish all comments and work in progress on this blog only and the usual ramblings SHOULD occur as time permits on the usual 'Tatting and not a lot else' blog.

Here's the link you've been waiting for. Happy tats to all!!!!

Friday, 1 January 2010

Tomorrow is another day AND

I will be announcing the start date of the first TIAS of 2010.

Please come back tomorrow morning for the introduction to this Tat It And See.

Monday, 4 May 2009

dani's CYOP - TIAS - the end?

hi all!

so, by "tomorrow" i clearly meant a week-and-a-half later.... sigh... i should have borrowed Jane's "spare" brain cell. next time, if inspiration should ever strike again, i'll remember this!

in the meantime, for those who've been waiting sooo patiently for me to post their pics... here you go!

i kept thinking through-out that option A should have been option E... for Egg! option B is a Bunny, as many have guessed, and Option C is a chick! (one tatter couldn't figure out what option C was, until someone rotated it to horizontal instead of vertical!)

Tatskool made Option A and came out with a Chiton...? see her blog for details!

Sonja from Holland - Option A

Sonja from Holland - Option B

Sonja from Holland - Option C

Carla - Option A (Paasei)

Carla - Option B (Paashaas)

Carla - Option C (Kuiken)

Riet - Option B

Unarae in Alaska - Option C - day 5

Gina from the Netherlands - Option C - i love the background drawing and the eye!

Marty - Option A

Marty - Option C

ladytats - Option C - day 6

ladytats - Option C

mine - Option A(Egg)

mine - Option C(hick)

mine - Option B(unny)

and so the Choose-Your-Own-Pattern Tat-It-And-See comes to an end (except for pictures you send me! (dmr22 at cornell dot edu) which i promise to post at least once a week!)

the patterns will eventually (see, i can be taught!) be up on my website in PDF form... honest!

dani, the geek
