Day 1 continued!

First in this morning is Gita who has obviously had a good tatting day!!

"OmG Jane ThanK YoU So Much for all your Help and Time and Loads of Encouragement! Hopefully each section will only take me the 6 or so hours of untatting I managed to work in today LOL!!! ;)~
As an Absolute newbie I am tickled to pieces my husband encouraged me to try my first ever TIAS - Actually my first ever Official Tatting ProjecT! (Having only made a Butterfly or two and some seriously scarily uneven basic edgings)
I am TicKled To BiTs I made my FirsT EveR Split Rings!!! Other firsts today include but are not limited to;
- making a chain
- reading a pattern
- loading continuous thread shuttles
- making stitches backwards on purpose
I am So Excited to share my picture from across the pond
I always dreamed of making a Heliosaurus so I am Thrilled with my first LeG of this Journey!
Thank YoU So Very Much Jane!!! <3 span="">

I think this one is from Deana but please correct me if I'm wrong. Here's the comment and picture.
"Tatting in from London Ontario. I can't remember how to get the pic in comments...grrrrr"
The picture came through perfectly - thanks.

Arlene is next and she says.
"I think it's an ear of corn. Cause why not?"
Why not, indeed!!!!

Must go and have breakfast so Denise's will be the last for a while. I'll be back, though!!!
Denise says.
"Day one. No clue yet."

I'm back but have to go grocery shopping soon. Time for a few more, though!!
Next is from Marla who has joined in a few times before!!!
"Jane, I'm HERE! And still in time for day one...... I think...... at least it's still day one here in the west. :)
I believe we are tatting Ted, a Purple-People-Eater...... but I'm not a fan of purple, actually it's probably my least favorite color!
So I am tatting mine in lavender.... a kinder, gentler version of the color purple."

Sharon is the next in my inbox and she says.
"I've no idea what this might be
But if the beads are eyes and a cute little nose
This might be a leg with some cute little toes
Sharon
(who is happily back to tatting after moving to KY, USA)"
Welcome back to Tat Land.

Next to arrive is Bernice who says.
"This is an opera thread size 20, so happy to be a part of the Tias 2016. Just waiting for more snow tonight.
Bernice B
Calgary Ab Canada"

Denise has now arrived with her day 1. She says.
"Dear Jane,
Thank you so much for the TIAS in 2016. It is my first one. I feel behind already. A pink dragon?
Everything looks better in pink. Looking forward to keeping up.
Denise"

Sonya nearly missed doing her day 1 on day 1 of the game. Not that it matters, of course!!!!
"Hi Jane,
I cannot believe I almost went to bed without tatting my first day of TIAS 2016! I did not stay up late last night, and the covers were too warm and cozy this morning to get up early. Then I failed to take my shuttles to work with me today! Well here it is now. The game is on!
Thank you Jane for all your hard work on TIAS.
Sonya
LizBeth dark purple (I am at the end of the ball and have lost the card so I cannot give you the number).
Thank you,
Sonya Loyd"

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this picture. Thanks Patricia.
"Jane--Thank you for doing another year's TIAS!
Enjoying Tatting in Muskogee OK USA
Patricia Lyn Cobb

Another brilliant idea from Martha!!! Thanks for another giggle!
"I'm late, I'm late! I didn't expect to work a double Tuesday night. I'll get caught up soon,I keep telling myself, and wonder how long I'm going to keep falling for that line.
-Martha"

This is from Celine and again I'm going to use Google translate to help us poor English only people. Sadly I've forgotten most of the French I learned at school.
"Bonjour Jane

Hello Jane
I participate for the first time in tias. I am very pleased to participate in this event. I frivolous for less than a year.
I participate in the shuttle 20 and 30 and the needle 20.
Thank you for this already very fun event. I imagined that this could be a penguin 😉😊
Good day to you and soon for the next
Céline

Final one before I go out shopping.
Next I have a day 1 from Elisibetta who says.
"Buongiorno signora Jane, è la prima volta che partecipo al TIAS. Spero di essere all'altezza di tante maestre del chiacchierino. La saluto caramente e le auguro un buon TIAS 2016.
Elisabetta da Torino Italia"

Hello Mrs. Jane, is the first time that I participate in the TIAS. I hope to live for so many teachers of tatting. I greet you dearly and I wish a good TIAS 2016.
Elizabeth from Turin Italy

Back from the dreaded grocery shopping to find Nicole in my inbox. Here's her comment and picture.
"Dear Jane,
So glad to be back for my fourth TIAS (my fourth? Time flies!). It really brightens up my days, thank you so much for organising this again. Love to read all the comments. And I see I can practice my French reading skills on your blog now. Bonjour à tous, hi everyone!
Best wishes,
Nicole
(The Netherlands)"

This next picture and comment come from Shelly who says.
"So glad to start up a new year with TIAS
Skunklady
Shelly in Georgia USA"

Anne is next in with her day 1 and the following comment. Here are her pictures too.
"Hi Jane,
Here's my first day's work. Should I call this work when it's so fun?
I don't have enough imagination to guess what it is yet, but I'm looking forward to Day 2."

Next in is SueH from 'down there' in London, England!!! Here is her comment and picture.
"Is it a foot and bottom part of a leg?
Hockey stick?"
Love the shuttle, Sue.

It's been 'one of those days' here in my corner of Tat Land so I apologise for keeping you waiting if you have been in my inbox for a while.
Next in is Coretta with her comment and picture.
"Jane,
I'm excited for this year's TIAS. I start looking forward to it as soon as Christmas is over. :) I chose a grey Lizbeth size 20."

Another returning TIASer (I know that's not a real word!) is Sarah who says.
"Hi Jane, Somehow opening day slipped by me ... don't know how that happened as I have been looking forward to your game for months. Ah well, I am back on track and will try to keep up with the rhymes as well as the tatting.
Happy New Year to all in Tatland.
Sarah
The first installment of TIAS 2016
What it will be I have yet to glean."

I don't have a name for the next person but her email address is monbabylucas which I love. Here's her comment and picture.
"Bonjour
Voici la 1ere partie ;-)"
Welcome to monbabylucas. Good to see you.

Wanda has just arrived in my inbox. Welcome back, Wanda. Here's her comment and picture.
"Hello, Jane!
Here is my day one. I have no idea but my husband says it's a ladybug.
Glad the TIAS has started!
Wanda
from Kansas, USA"
A ladybug? Interesting!!!

Next in is Michelle and this is what she says.
"Hi Jane. I'm using size 20 variegated thread in rainbow and my daughter Meaghan is using peacock blues variegated. She's learning magic thread to hide ends. I found an easy way to do that with floss threaders . Here are our day 1 pictures . I'm gonna wait a bit before guessing what this maybe."
Well done to both of you - particularly Meaghan who may well be the youngest taking part in the TIAS.

Shirley has just arrived in my inbox with her day 1. She says.
"Hi!
I think it will be a garden gnome, Jane. For luck.
Shirley McKee"
Now that's a new idea, Shirley. I wonder if it is?!?!?!?

Final person of the day is Rose Anne who has just caught me on the way to bed!!! She says.
"OK Jane Eborall's "Tat It And See" for 2016 is off and knotting once again!!! Once again thank you Jane for this motivation to keep tatting fun and interesting while keeping our skills polished! Here is my Day 1 using Lizabeth colour 168 in size 20, this is a very slight variegated thread and I'm hoping will be very close to one colour as possible and not mess up the finished mystery! Now as for a guess of what it will grow up to be - Nada, Zippo, None At All!!!
Rose Anne"

We're OFF

Day 1 of the Tat It And See 2016 is now available on this link.

Any comments or photos you want to send in then please send them to this email address - love to tat @gmail.com (take out the spaces)!!!

All links will be available at the top left of this page and on my regular blog (Tatting and not a lot else) which is here.

Later today I will be adding the French links to the sidebar of this blog so keep watching!!!

First one in on Day 1 is Kristen - welcome back, lass! Here is her comment and her picture.
"Hey Jane!
Thanks for another exciting TIAS puzzle!!
Here is my day 1:
Since I'm Down Under for this one, my brain goes to Australia things, so I'm going to guess we're making a duck-billed platypus. Because why not?!
I'll do my best to keep up with the TIAS but I'm going on vacation starting Friday so may get a little behind. Happily I am able to at least start it on time.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Fondly
Kristen"

Second person in is Jaycee who says.
"Dear Jane,
Chose this colour as red is auspicious to the Chinese and CNY is just round the corner. Thanks for another wonderful Tias of the year! Love you!!!
Jacee"

Next in is Jane who has sent in her picture and comment.
"Hi Jane, I’m maintaining my tradition of using my silver shuttle for the TIAS. I don’t use it a lot because it’s a bit heavy, but it needs an airing now and then. xxx"
Good to see the shuttle again, Jane!

Now we have Sophie who is next in with her day 1.
"Hi Jane,
I'm happy to do your TIAS this year and here is my first part.
Have a wonderfull year !
Sophie"

Uh, oh, she's back. Who? Well that Pigmini - that's who. Here's her comment and picture.
"Morning Miss. Well, you've listened to me this year.... TIAS day one and its definitely an Elephants Foot Umbrella Stand!! See???
Sue"

Another trouble maker is back too - Maureen with her insistence each year that we're tatting a rabbit!!  I mean - who would want a tatted rabbit?
"And NOW it's Happy New Year! - it never starts properly until Day 1. So here are the first three rings, watched over by the Sentinel Rabbit who is hopeful as always!"

Now I have two pictures from Laurence and a comment too.
"Bonjour Jane.
cordialement
Laurence

Hello Jane.
I discovered the frivolity there is less than year (I did not even know that that existed!!) and I love!!!
I make this year the TIAS.
Here are my photos.
I made it by working place on place (by using the red line).
For the moment I don't see too much that it could be!!!
See you soon for the continuation.
cordially
Laurence"

Next to appear in my inbox is Firanghish who says.

"Thanks Jane for starting fun game.
Happy tatting everyone.
Sending an photo of today's puzzle pice.
Regards
Firanghish."

Welcome aboard, Carol on your first TIAS.  Wish I was in Australia at the moment - darn cold 'up here'.

"Hi Jane,
I'm a newbie and this is my first Tias. I have no idea yet as to what this could be.
Carol from Australia."

Next to arrive is Adeline who says.
"Hi Jane !
Thanks for your TIAS :-)
This is my day 1 :-)"
Welcome to the TIAS 2016.  Long may you tat!

Carolyn has just sent in her day 1 with this comment.
"I sure hope I can stick with this, I didn't use plain colors so it will be interesting, had to do something other than my brown Monster Doily :)"
This is Carollyn from Carollyn's tatting blog

Just had time to make a cup of tea and now I have two more pictures and comments - yippeeee.  First is from Lyn.
"Hi Jane,
Happy New Year!
Thank you for another TIAS ! Will wait for a few more days of tatting before I start guessing.
Lyn ( Busselton WA)"

Now I have Helene who has played this game before!!!
"Hello Jane,
My favourite time of the year is back! Thank you.
Here is my day 1, I chose this colour thread because I am hoping we are tatting a tiger. Is it a tiger?
Hélène from Laval, Québec."

Another newcomer to the TIAS is next to arrive in my inbox.  Welcome to the world of the TIAS, Melanie.  She says.
"Dear Jane,
I was going to put off my participation in the TIAS until I saw that pictures were posted in real time (I had thought that would be cheating) and that you even provided a drawing and that only a tiny bit was put up today. So my question is whether it will be such a small about each day or today is exceptional.
I don't typically use size 20 but was excited to find a gorgeous green in that size that I purchased a year or two ago for a project I decided not to do after all. It's lovely to tat with (smooth) and will finally get some use! Yay! I just don't know where to find a place where I can buy individual beads. I'll see if anything I have on hand fits the size requirements.
Happy to play along,
Melanie"
To answer your question - each section is only a small number of elements but towards the end when people have guessed what they're tatting it does become a little longer.  For further information please take a look at the introduction which can be found via links on either this blog or the regular one.

Another of my friends is back again this year.  Hi, Judy.  Welcome back.
"Jane,
I am back! No clue.. Judy..Phoenix, Arizona"

Next in (and thanks to Shirley) is Mary Anna's day 1.  There isn't a comment but I'd like to thank Shirley for her help.  Well done, Mary Anna in Ohio too.

Annemarie has now popped in with her day 1.  She says.

"Dear Jane,
What a pleasure to revive TIAS and contact you. Finish my dictionary's holidays.  We have to start working English again....and tatting !.
First  stage in double copy. Is it a leg of ????  Thread Altin basak 50 ( between 20 and 30 of Lizbeth Collection)
Regards.
Anne-Marie (France)"
Good to see you back, Annemarie.  Let the fun begin!!!

Next to arrive is Melanie who says this.
"Hi Jane-
Here's my day 1. I hope to be back in my study by the time we need beads.
Thank you for the game,
Melanie"

Next in is from a much warmer climate than I'm in at the moment!!!  Here is day 1 from Alva Alicia
"Good morning Jane and happy new year.
Here is my day 1 for this year.
Thanks for sharing and spreading this beautiful art all over the world, hoping that more and more people gets interested in learning about it.
Best wishes for all tatters
Alva Alicia Burrola
Tijuana Baja California
México"

The next arrival in my inbox is Mary who has this to say.

"Jane,
I woke up early (for me) this morning and saw that there were already a bunch of day one postings and I immediately felt like I was behind. Us folks here on the US west coast have no chance at being early!
Anyway, here's day one.
Mary"

Maglina has just sent in her day 1 which I'm going to translate to English using Google translate.  Hope it works out properly.
"Bonsoir Jane.
Je suis ravi de faire ce 1 er TIAS avec vous toutes.
Je n'ai pas encore d'idée sur l'objet frivolé ;)

Jane Good evening.
I am delighted to be with you this first TIAS all.
I have no idea about the frivolous object)"

Orane has now sent her TIAS day 1 in and here it is.
"Bonsoir Jane voici ma 1er partie. Je trouve ça drôle à faire j'ai hâté d'avancer.
Pour le moment dur dur de deviner. Une antenne d'insecte peu être.

Goodnight Jane is my first game. I find it funny to do I hastened forward.
For hard hard time guessing. A little insect antenna be 😜"

Katie's back!!!  As usual she's working multiple TIAS's.  What a lot of work, Katie!
"Hi, Jane!
So good to be back in the TIAS game, 2016 style.  Thanks immensely for devising the game for us.  Who knows what we're in for this time?!!  Whatever it is, I'll have five when the game is played out.  My grandson has claimed the blue one--whatever it turns out to be.  He understands the "whatever" part!  Besides, why am I making 5?  Five grands, five items, but the blue is his.  His logic preceded mine.  These kids are always ahead of me.
Katie V in NC"
LOVE those shuttles.

Elsa has just arrived with what I think is an amazing suggestion for the TIAS!!!!  Where did she get this idea from?!?!?!!?  So funny.
"Hello Jane,
This is my first photo. I think it's left leg of Mary Poppins. I hope it's not too difficult to tat her umbrella.
Thank you very much for your TIAS :-)"

116. "Dear Jane,

first of all Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, then thank you for your tatting patterns and for your TIAS.

You are a tatting angel and here are two lost little scissors...

Tuesday 12th May

Another new arrival today. I think we may beat the record by the end of the year!!! This is from Brady who says:-

113.  "hi Jane!
I'm sure this is the last pair of TIAS2015 scissors you'll be sent. It might be the first needle tatted pair though?
Anyway, sorry so late. I loved all the pairs I kept seeing, but just this month got up the gumption to see if I could make it work with a needle. If anyone's interested, the only change I made was zigzag tatting instead of lock chains. (It's possible to do LC with the needle but it's not fun)
Anyway, thanks for the great pattern! Needle crafters all love scissors.
Brady "
