Wednesday

First of all I will be putting day 2 up tomorrow morning.  Please bear with me today as I will be out for the morning but will get as many overnight day 1's up here as I can before I go.  Hmmm, that may not be many but the rest WILL be done this afternoon.

So, first in today is from Esta who says:-
"Hello Jane,

This is my first TIAS and I'm excited to participate. Thank you for doing this!
This is my Day 1 in Size 20 Lizbeth, colour Tropical Punch.
I have no idea what it might be, but I believe guessing is half the fun. I'm going to guess a pig, only because I think a pig would be cute in Tropical Punch.
Thanks!
Esta - Toronto, Canada"

I always work from the bottom of my inbox to keep things fair and so the second in this morning is from Anne-Marie who says:-
"Hello Jane,
This time, I begin TIAS at first day. the thread is "Altin Basak 50"  (but Turkish thread haven't same number that Lizbeth or DMC) slightly finer than UK 20 Color 3001
I eagerly wait for Day 2. I still hav'nt an idea what is it?
Read you soon...Anne-Marie"

Back later!!!!
Body clothed and fed so I'm back for a few minutes to show you Caroline's day 1.  This is her comment:-
"Hi Jane,
I am getting a slow start this year.  I had a hard time deciding on colors as I don't have a lot of solid colors.  Decided to make two after I decided on colors.  Monday schools were closed here because of the cold (4) and with the wind chill it was wayyyyyy below 0.  It got up to a balmy 20 today and we are to have snow flurries tonight and to be colder tomorrow.  Then it is to warm up and be in the high 20s by the weekend.  It will sure be nice.
Caroline
Omaha, Nebraska USA"
Just LOOK at those pretty shuttles.

Now I have Denise J's day 1 along with her comment too.  Here's what she says:-
"Here is my entry for the New Year's tatted adventure. I'm looking forward to the guessing. So far all I've got is a pretty flower.
Thanks,
Denise"

Now I have Lori's day one to add to the post.  She says:-
"Hi janee
Well I decided to take your challenge ! Here's a picture of mine
Lori Jones"

I have two more in my inbox but I have to go out now.  I will add them as soon as I can.  Maybe around my lunchtime.  Time to go and play with other oldies like me in the library.  Silver Surfers - yipppeeeee.

Good afternoon - I'm back!!!
Now the first one this time is from Bernice who says:-
"My first TIAS, we have been travelling but I was able to complete day 1 while hubby drove (not my best tatting).  Home now so I was able to upload the attached."

Next and all the way from Australia is Frances who says:-
"Good Morning Jane,
here is my day 1 for this year.
I am using a vintage Coats variegated blue which looks a lot like the one Janemac is using.  I am also using my silver shuttle which I got for our 25th anniversary this year and my new pear shuttle.

Even though I tatted it on Monday, my camera decided to hide after the Christmas clean up.  I hope that  the weather is being kind to you, as we are sweltering away in 40 deg C heat,  although it is cooler today at 30 deg.
Looking forward to day 2
regards
Frances S
Australia"

The next picture in is also from Frances but she sent it in for Allison!!!!  Here's the comment that came with it and also a message from me too!
"Hi Jane
I am sending you a copy of Allison’s day 1 which we completed at todays session.  Next time when we are at Allison’s house will show her where to send it.
regards
Frances S  for Allison H

Australia"
Welcome aboard, Allison.  Good to see you here.

Next in is from Martha Ess who says:-
"Here is my humble beginning. It's always fascinating to see what will grow out of the first tiny bit."

Now I have Michelle in my inbox next.  She has this to say:-
"Dear Jane,
Hello from Wyoming USA!!  Here is my step 1.  This sounds like a fun game.  I made mine out of Lizbeth Black size 20.  I have no guesses as to what it might be yet!!!!  Happy tatting from knottymichelle"

Next to arrive is from Helen who has this to say:-
"Dear Jane,
Love to participate again in the TIAS. So first day done. Will it be a fan? Haven't got a clue of course.
Greetings Helen"

Now it's Lesley's turn to join in the fun!!!  Here's her comment - followed by her picture too:-
"Dear Jane
How did I ever survive all those years without the fun of the tatting community on the internet?!!
Here is my first post for my first TIAS. I’m using a variegated Coats Chain Mercer crochet cotton, size 40; I don’t know what the colour is since it’s from a job lot of threads I bought on eBay.
Looking forward to Day 2.
Regards
Lesley"

Next to drop in is Sheila who has sent in her picture and comment.  Here's what she says:-
"This is my 1st day TIAS motive. I used no 10 cotton thread, planning to change the colour in further rounds. Thank you for sharing your patterns with all tatters."

Tuesday, 7 January 2014

More Day 1 now in!!!

First in this morning is from Helene who says:-
"Hi again Jane,
It is so much fun to come home from work to participate in your TIAS.  This is so much fun.
My guess: the start of a magic wand .... or could it be a flower ... or ... for now it could be just about anything, and I do like the alligator paws.
I am using no. 20 Coats Opera color no. 519
See you on day 2!
Hélène from Québec, Canada"

Next in this morning is from Denise who says:-
"First Day
Denise Royal

Now I have Amanda's day one and she says:-
"Hello Jane,
Here is Day 1 from Washington State, USA.  I'm using a mystery (no label) thread, for a mystery pattern.  Could it be a fan?
~Amanda"

Next in is from Kelli who is joining us this year.  She says:-
"Hello Ms. Eborall,
I've never done a mystery tat along and decided to join in this year.  I started with Lizbeth 20 in color 185.
Kelli in Oregon"

Back after breakfast, folks!!!

Right, body clothe, porridge eaten, shopping done so now I'm back with more day 1's.
Now this next lass is unbelievable.  Just look at her perfect tension and then read what she says:-
"Hi Jane,
My name is Sarah. I started needle tatting a couple of months ago and shuttle tatting last week. I'm looking forward to this TIAS and learning some new skills.  Thank you for doing this!  I will have a better quality of pictures soon and am looking forward to some shuttles arriving in the mail, but since I couldn't wait to get started, I made some out of old plastic cards. They work pretty well. This is my day 1 a little yellow flower. My thread is inherited and mostly unlabelled.  I thought it was size 20, but once I got going it seemed smaller... Maybe 30."

Another newcomer to the TIAS and this is what she says:-
"First time participant, though I've watched along before. Can't wait to see how it turns out!
-Bay"

Now a returning 'gamer'!!!!  This one is always fun to open as I never know what rhyme she's going to come up with - along with the tatting!!!!
Sarah says:-
"Hi Jane, Here is day one and the first rhyme.  I don't know if I can keep the rhyming going throughout but that is part of the fun... to see how long I can keep it up!
Thanks for doing this it is always such fun.     Sarah from CT in USA

Another TIAS has begun
and I am joining in the fun.
I’ve chosen my thread
I’m ready for the surprises ahead.

This next pretty picture and comment comes from Firanghish who says:-
"Hi! Jane
Here's my contribution. I think it is snowflake."

Next in my inbox is from Coretta who says:-
"Tatted on my flight from Utah to Florida going home from vacation. I live where other people vacation. :)"

This next one is a really cheerful and colourful picture from Nacole.  She says:-
"Hello it's Nacole from Texas and here is my first attempt. It's my second tatting project. I plan on doing two, a needle and a shuttle. I can only do one tonight, this is the needle.
I still think it's a clown!  It's the flower for his hat! ;)
Or maybe it's an artistic impression of my eyes. :) yes that's it!"

Now I have umintsuru who says this:-
"Good morning Jane.
Happy New Year.
Is it a strawberry?
I should have used pink.
~umintsuru~"
Again another cheerful picture for a dull winter's day.

Next in is from Kristen who's sent in her photo along with this comment:-
"Hi Jane! Here is my TIAS day 1 photo! No guesses yet, but so far, so good, I think :).  I'm also putting the photos on my blog! :)
Have a good one!
Kristen"

Another new person now joins the TIAS.  Welcome, Szilvia.  Here's her comment and photo:-
"Hi Jane,
this is my first TIAS game. New game, new shuttle, new thread.
This is a Turkish thread, there are many beautiful colors.  I bought one to try.
Regards
Szilvia
Budapest, Hungary"
Pretty, pretty shuttles.

Next in is a nervous sounding Diane who says:-
"Good morning, Jane!
Here's hoping I can keep up this year! Split rings, SCMRs... I'm sure you'll keep me on my toes and teach me some wonderful new skills! Thanks for the challenge!"

Next in is from Jenni who says:-
"Yay....got in from day one!!
Thanks for all the work you do for this Jane. You are wonderful..!!"

Now I think Nicole has got stars in her eyes!!!  What a pretty picture.  Here it is along with her comment:-
"Dear Jane,
So excited to tat along with you again. My second TIAS!
Kind regards,
Nicole"

Next to arrive in my inbox is day one from Susan who says:-
"Hi Jane,
I'm a day late, but here's my day 1 photo and I'm off to check out day 2. I'm needle tatting with Lizbeth size 40 in colour 122. This is my first TIAS, and I'm looking forward to lots of fun!
Hugs from Suz"

Now my next message is from Joanie - my dear friend who puts up with me when I'm in America.   She said this:-
"Is my picture ok or is it one that needs something done to it?
Looks like you are off to a good start! : )
Thanks!"
It's fine, Joanie.  All I needed to do was just crop it.  That's easy to do.  It's when pictures come in as part of a Word document that it takes time to sort.  Keep it up and I'll be a happy bunny!!!

Now I have another picture AND a rhyme too.  This is from Tally Tatty who says:-
"Hi, Jane,
This is Tally Tatty from Antwerp, Belgium.  I hope that this wee flower will turn into a sea creature.
As a was tatting, I also thought about a rhyme:
There was a dear lady called Jane
Who invented a difficult game
She called it no less
Than TIAS
Which is why we’re all tatting the same!"
Great rhyme, Tally Tatty.  Thanks.

Today's the day and the first few in.

First in this morning is from Fiona in Australia who says:-
"Hi Jane

Not sure yet what it could be...
Fiona (one mad tatter)"

Second in is from Jane.  Look at her shuttles.  LOVE the one with your name on, Jane.  Here's what she says:-
"Hi Jane, well, I've begun. Here's my day 1.(That rhymes, goodness). The thread is size 20 Coats."

Next in is Sue who lives here in the UK.  She says:-
"Hi Jane
Here's my contribution to day 1...
Rainbow Taffy on shuttles from something else, so I'm using them up!!  Enough thread to do them... Cant wait for Day 2!!  Now to blog about it!
I think it's a flower!!!  If it isn't it sure looks like one at the moment!!
Sue.

The next day one is from Sunset who says:-
"Hi I'm Sunset from Valley Center, Kansas, USA. So excited about participating in this fun tatting game. Im using size 20 lizbeth thread in sea scape."

Next in is from Sonja who has taken part in the TIAS many times.  Here's what she has to day:-
"Hello Jane
Here I am again for the TIAS. I love it so much.
Here is my day 01.
Sonja from The Netherlands"

Heather has now popped in with her day 1.  This is her comment:-
"Good Morning Jane,
Bad news toady... we are having an icy mess this morning :(  but the good news is I got to stay home and got day 1 completed! I am making a guess already, I think it may be someones foot... an alligator or frog ;) Hope you have a great day, Thanks for doing another TIAS. Heather."

I'm delighted to see Isabel back in my inbox this year.  Here is her day 1:-
"Hi Jane, here is my TIAS day 1.
Have a wonderful afternoon.
A big hug from me Isabel in south of Sweden!"

Now I have another friend in next.  It's Wanda who says:-
"Hi, Jane,
Here's my day 1 from cold and windy Kansas, USA.  Hmm, it's round....the tummy of a cute critter!
Looking forward to all the guesses and comments that come with the TIAS.  Thanks so much for doing this again!
Wanda

Next in is from Mary Beth  who says:-
"Here is my day one from Mary Beth in Fort Worth TX.  Follow my progress on my blog:  tat-a-girl.blogspot.com"

Now I have Marie's day 1 and she says:-
"Thanks, Jane!!  I've been so excited about your TIAS, here is my blog link.
I tatted it in size 20, verrigated yellow crochet thread.
Thanks, Marie"

Next in is Miranda's work and she says:-
"Hi Jane,
Here's my day 1, and a very lovely little violet it is, too.
Miranda"

Maria has sent in her day 1 and I think she must have been reading my regular blog posts as she says:-
"Well... this is a funny start to a Gecko!.... He must be smelling flowers. :)
--
Marla"

WOW, another newbie taking part in this year's TIAS.  Hello, Claire and welcome aboard.  Here's what Claire has to say:-
"Hello Jane,
My name is Claire. I started tatting just a few months ago, and this is the first TIAS that I am participating to. Thanks for sharing one of your pattern and for all the hard work that goes into organizing such an event.
Here is my TIAS day 1. I used some Lizbeth 'Sea green dark' in size 20.
My guess? A lady riding a horse sidesaddle. ;)"
Claire's blog is here.  http://oclairedelune.wordpress.com

Next offering into my inbox is from Cheryl who says:-
"This is my second try. I misunderstood on the 2nd, 3rd, etc rings. I thought I was supposed to make another vsp. But I was supposed to attach it.
I’m happy I can tat again, as I have an infected finger and couldn’t even touch it for a few days. There’s a picture on my blog of my awful finger.
Decided I wouldn’t gross out your TIAS page.
Cheryl"
I'm sorry to hear about the finger, Cheryl but relieved I can't see it on the TIAS blog.  BUT I'll be over to your blog to have a peak and offer my 'finger condolences'.

Again another welcome to a dear friend from over the pond.  Suzanne is back too and here's what she has to say:-
"Dear Jane,
Happy New Year!  It appears that an eleven month hiatus from tatting is not a valid excuse for failing to show up for the TIAS (wouldn't miss it for the world!).  Not only did I have the exact amount of thread required on the first shuttle that came to hand, but I actually remembered how to tat.  (Granted, there were a few tiny moments of head scratching as to the most recent ring closing method I had been using before I stopped tatting: a second half stitch after the final ds, to prevent it from rolling.  It remains to be seen if joining the second half of a split ring resurfaces as easily....:-D)
Suzanne"

Whooopppeeee - another new TIAS participant.  Welcome to Sandi in Canada.  Here's what she has to say:-
"Sandi, from New Brunswick Canada
This is my first time doing something like this, I'm looking forward to learning something.
Thanks for doing this."

Next in is Andrea's day 1 and she says this:-
"Hi Jane,
Here is my first day ... very dainty!  No guesses yet, but I am loving this Lizbeth 20s coral green!  It doesn't show up very well on this background ... but will take a little more time with my next photo.  Thanks for the fun! :)
Best wishes
Andrea"

Probably the last this evening - nearly my bedtime and this is from Monica.  She says:-
"Hi Jane.
Greetings from Columbia MD, USA. Here is my day 1 of the TIAS. I am excited to get to join in again this year.
I am sending from my phone so please let me know if you have problems opening the photo.
Monica Braxton"

So it wasn't the last of the evening.  This is the last and it's from Marieke in The Netherlands.  She says:-
"Hello Jane,
I also send this email to Riet (see below).
Just this evening i saw an email from Riet that the TIAS 2014 started.

127.
"I made it!

I will send this lovely piece of tatting  on a greeting card to my parents at their  58th wedding anniversary in marsh, since I have been carried around in a very similar pram.

November 21st

A new pram has arrived today via Ryanna.  I found this one on Facebook.  Number
125.

Sunday, 6 October 2013

Number 124 on 6th October

Well it's always a lovely surprise to have a TIAS arrive. This one has just dropped into my inbox from Nikki. She says:-

124. "Ok I got really busy but I finally finished it!!! It came out really cute! Thanks for the fun project!"

Monday, 9 September 2013

Monday September 9th

What a lovely surprise to wake up on a miserable Monday morning (it's raining again!) to find another pram in my inbox. Number 123 comes from Monica who says:-

123. "I just saw in your blog you won't be updating the 2013 TIAS because you are busy working on next years.. so exciting! And you mentioned some other TIAS before the end of the year...? I will have to keep my eyes open!

Still, I just finished mine, and I want to send it to you before life passes me by and I forget!

Thanks again for organizing this. I will see if I put this in a bib or a card... I used the airplane on a bib earlier this year, it was great!"

Don't worry, Monica - I update this blog whenever I get a new incomer!!! Even if the next TIAS is happening there's always room for previous ones!!

Sunday, 18 August 2013

Sunday 18th August.

What a lovely surprise - another pram has strolled in from Nathalie who says:-

122. Hello Jane,
I discovered tatting last Christmas and learned it by watching videos online. Quickly after that, I found your blogs and I fell in love with your patterns, so I've joined the Fringe Element Tatter group in Toronto to help me tatting them. Attached to this email, I send you a picture of what I did with 2 of your patterns (sorry, I've made several mistakes with them) and a picture of the final product: a card I made for my friend's baby shower.
Thank you very much for all your creativity and please, keep surprising us :-)
Best regards,
Nathalie"
That's one VERY cute baby, Nathalie!

Tuesday, 2 July 2013

Wednesday 3rd July

Now I have another new pram to show you. This is from Margaret who says:-

121 "At last I have tatter the TiAS 2013, I have scheduled the post as we are going away on Tuesday, Its scheduled to go on my blog on Tuesday 2nd July. I used Lizbeth Thread no 20 in Pink Parade and black no 20.
Its taken me awhile to get back into it, of course when you did it in January we had two family deaths and to be honest it was the last thing on my mind.
Anyway here is the first one, I am sure there will be others,"
