Last Friday

Cheryl sent in a whole collection of foxy bookmarks.  Thought you’d like to see them so here they are!!!.

This is what she had to say.

I finally got some foxes made. I've learned to use larger beads for eyes and the nose. They give them more life.”

Another fox has arrived

Well I’m more than delighted to have another new fox drop into my inbox today. This is from Arlene who says

105 ” Hi,
I happily stumbled onto your blog the day you said: I’m 100. I thought : Wow!! This person is 100 and has their own blog. I went onto discover that you had 100 completed fox bookmarks sent to you. Amazing!
I loved your pattern and set to creating my own fox bookmark. I needle tat and had a few problems with the last outline of the head, but had so much tatting my fox.
I used:
a size 5 needle,
light colored thread: Aunt Lydias Size 10, color copper mist
dark colored thread: DMC Cebelia, unknown color
Arlene Hall
Northern Minnesota
USA”

Ha, ha, Arlene - I do have a slightly wacky sense of humour. Please forgive me. I’m only 77 in real life although some days I feel like 100 like most people!! Thanks for taking part in the TIAS.

March 12th

Yvonne has arrived now with her foxy bookmark. That makes 104 which is truly amazing. She says

104.    "Hi Jane, because we only opened up in February and then we had another lockdown, we are a bit late in completing our bookmarks. But we thoroughly enjoyed it. Some guesses were , an aeroplane, an insect and various other animals. We can’t wait for the next one. Thanks again, Yvonne
This is the first book mark completed in my class. Thanks for doing it we all enjoy it!
Regards, Yvonne "

Another foxy bookmark!

103.    To get to this number of a hindered and three Elain has sent in her bookmark. This is what she says

“Here is my fox. He is a hot mess but as a beginner I am still proud of him. I really enjoyed this and even though it doesn't look like it I learned a lot. Before this I was intimidated by split ring now I enjoy then.
I plan to try some of the past Tat and See and continue to improve. Thanks so much for doing these. Elaine”

Well Elaine I must say that as a beginner and not knowing what you were making I think you’ve done a remarkable job on your bookmark. It’s not easy when you know what you’re making and is almost impossible when you don’t!!! Congratulations.

Another fox has arrived

102. Another day and another fox. This time it’s Gail’s fox which has just arrived. She says

“ Hello, Jane,
Here is my foxy bookmark. It is tatted with size 20 Lizbeth threads, #641 (Lilac Dark) and #642 (Lilac Medium).
This was my first time joining your TIAS project, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Thank you for taking the time to create the pattern and share it in such a fun way with all of us. I look forward to joining you again next year!
Gail
Illinois, USA”

Thanks for joining in, Gail.  I’m so glad you enjoyed the fun.

I'm 100 today!!!

Well that's not my age but the number of people who have now made foxes and sent them in. I'm VERY happy about that.

100. This is from Claire who sends in day 15 as well. She says

"Hello Jane,
I just realized that I didn't send in my penultimate Day 15 and the final one.
So here are the pictures of my Foxy bookmark.
I used Lizbeth threads in size 20, in Seagreen Light (#686) and Dark (#688). They are not very 'foxy' colours, but I might do this pattern again later on in more 'appropriate' colours.
Thank you for the fun guessing game. You really got us nearly to the very end this year. Hope to see another TIAS next year.
Take care.

Claire (BC, Canada)

101. Next to arrive in the same day is Terry’s with her comment.

“ Hi Jane,Better late than never but here he is...Mr. Fox is done!
Thank you for another great game.
Terry ”

Saturday 27th February

I’m just adding these lovely foxes from Faye who has already sent in her fox earlier.  I count the number of people taking part in a TIAS = not the number of foxes as I think that’s fair.  BUT I love seeing finished TIAS’s anyway.  Here’s what Faye says

I previously sent my TIAS fox on the right to you. I shared it with my 7 year old grandson, who told me that he likes foxes. Could I make it in “fox colors”? So I did. I used Lizbeth size 10 thread. #694 for the rings & #610 for the chains. I used 3 size 6 black beads. I have blocked it & will send it on to him soon.

Thanks again for sharing this with us.

Thursday evening.

Well here we are with number ninety nine and this is from Kerstin who says

99. Here comes another Swedish Fox, but now we havet got spring, sun and flowers instead of Snow in our gardens. Thanks for this TIAS. Birgit

Wednesday 24th February

Just arrived and ‘hot off the shuttles’ are Shoshana’s 3 colourful foxes.  She says

98.    “ Hi, sorry I’m late, but I wanted to get all three of my foxes in at once! None of them are exactly as written because I only have one size 20 thread (middle fox, Lizbeth Vineyard Harvest). The other two are size 8 threads that I lost the labels for years ago. I may have cheated a bit on all the picots in the tail too.... I hope that’s alright! (And I’m counting correctly, my foxes will get you to 100! 💯)”

Don’t worry, Shoshana there’s no such thing as ‘late’!!!  I think the tails are fine too.  I hope you’re pleased with them all.

Monday 22nd February

Another fox has arrived this morning. This time it's from Catrin who says

97. "I've done it!!
After taking behind I wanted to wait until I could try and finish on one fell swoop
letting that as soon as I logged in for the next day I risked 'seeing to much' .
Thank you Jane - I love him, and may make him a companion one day. I may also block him and hide the ends... one day 🤭
Sincere thanks for all your hard work. Look how many people have got involved !! "

Ah, the dreaded ends, Catrin!!!  We all suffer from the 'dreaded ends'!!!!  That's why I now only have one end to sew in and also do it straightaway!!!!

Sunday 21st February

I'm back with another completed foxy bookmark.

96. This is from Julibeth who says

"Jane,
My little fox friend picked up a few buddies on his way to you."

Thanks, Julibeth - all friends are welcome!! Snails included!!!

Friday, 19 February 2021

From late Thursday to early Friday!!!

Carol sent in her finished foxy bookmark while I was snoring away last night!!! Least that's what I'm accused of - snoring!!!!  She says

95. "Dear Jane:

I used Lizbeth Size 20, Colors 691 & 168.
Always fun to be curious about what we are creating; however, kinda sad that it comes to an end. You make tatting so much fun & I learn new things in your patterns/designs. Thx : ) Job well done Jane!
Always, Carol

Thursday

A late arrival today as I’m actually heading for bed. Late, probably but as ever VERY welcom.

94. This is from Mariya who says

“ Hey Jane,
Here is my Fox 🎉Thank you for this wonderful TIAS 🙏 You rock! ❤️
Oh, I forgot to mention, I used YarnArt Canarias, but I'm not sure about the color codes. And I still don't know if this thread is thicker or thinner that the one you requested to use 🤦‍♀️“

Thanks for sending in your fox, Mariya.

Wednesday, 17 February 2021

It must be morning again!!

It must be morning because I'm back here on the TIAS blog. I'm still recovering from the many arrivals I had yesterday evening and so delighted that I'm already trying to think of ideas for another TIAS next January.

92. This morning I have Donna (from the Palmetto Tatters) who has sent in her finished fox. She says

"Hi! Thank you Jane!
LOVED the challenges and twists and turns and the mystery! Thank you for working your very creative brain cells so hard for all of us!
Everyone, Take Care and Stay Safe and Tat On!
Donna T."

93.    Corinne has just arrived in my inbox all the way from France.  Glad you missed going into quarantine by coming via cyberspace, Corinne.  She says

 Hi Jane,
From France, my lovely foxy bookmark.
Lisbeth 20, colour 658 and 184.
Sincerely Tours.”

Tuesday morning

The weather has warmed up and with that it's brought the rain. How boring.

Anyway I have a couple more arrivals from overnight so here they are.

71. First is from Bev who has pointed out that a group of foxes is a skulk. I hadn't thought to look that up before so thank you, Bev. Here's what she says

"Here is my foxy bookmark, made in better colours. He did look like roadkill when he was all green! I don’t know the brand or colours for my thread. The labels have long gone. That’s why I now tape the labels inside the tube once they are ready to fall off.
It was great to see so many tatters from so many countries. Thank you for all your hard work. Great fun with a few challenges thrown in.
Bev from Australia"

72.    Also in my inbox this morning is Krystal who says

"Hi, I responded in text on facebook, but here he is!
I hadn't sent mine in at all this time. :(  life was crazy and stressful but I so looked forward to the tat it and see days. Even when I fell behind on the head.  This was my third time participating in tat it and see. And I'm so glad you did it again!!
I live in sunny California, USA.
My thread included Lizbeth 20 color 136 autumn spice  along with Cebelia 30 712 cream for the body and tail.  And i changed from the lizbeth to Cebelia 20 816 garnet for the heads outline.
Thank you for all the work you put into these. They truly are a joy and the small chunks along with seeing everyone's participation is so encouraging and helpful to try new things and keep going.
Krystal L "

Thanks, Krystal.  I don't 'do' Facebook much as I find things get lost so quickly there.  Thank you for taking part and it's great that you managed to send in the finished fox.  I appreciate that.  Love the whiskers, by the way.

73.    Celine has just arrived in my inbox with her finished fox and she has this to say

"Hi Jane
Here is my Foxy bookmark.
I just see that I mixed the two threads in the first part.....
for this Tias I have been using Lizbeth 20 threads in color 164 ( blue to green) and color 606 dark grey and the beads Miyuki 11/0 color White Pearl Ceylon"

Love the colours you've used, Celine.  Thank you for sending him in.

74.    Andrea has just arrived with two foxy bookmarks!  She says

Hi Jane,
I absolutely love my foxy bookmarks!  Thank you so much for yet another brilliant challenge.  It's  been fun  x
I used Lizbeth 20 for 3 of the threads and some hand dyed thread for the other.
I hope you continue to outfox us xxx 🤣🤣🦊🦊🦊🤣🤣”

Ha, ha, ‘outfox’ - love that.  I’ll do my best, Andrea!!

75.    Helene is next in with her foxy bookmark.  She has this to say

TIAS 2021 Bonsoir Jane . Lors de ma 1ére proposition j'avais dit que cela pouvait être un coq 🐔. Nous avons fait son prédateur !! Le renard 🦊🤣. Merci pour cette belle aventure. À l'année prochaine 🙏
TIAS 2021 Good evening Jane. During my first proposal I said that it could be a rooster 🐔. We made his predator !! The fox 🦊🤣. Thank you for this great adventure. See you next year 🙏“

That’s very true that the fox is the predator of the rooster!  May I suggest you don’t keep the fox with the rooster with you tatting bits.

76.    The next fox to arrive is from Jackie who says

 Hello Jane
Here is my tatted foxy. Sorry it's  so late.
Thank you very much for 'resurrecting' the TIAS this year. I think we all needed cheering up!
I enjoyed doing the fox very much, but l did think all through that it was going to be a beaver! I've  no idea what the threads are, because they're  about forty years old. Could be Coats or Twilleys.
I hope you do another TIAS next year, but l realise it's  a lot of work.
Thanks again. It really is much appreciated.
best wishes Jackie (from Plymouth)”

Jackie it’s not late.  Late maybe when it’s taken three years to arrive and I’m only too pleased to have finished TIAS’s anytime.

77.    Eva is next to arrive and she has this to say

Here is my fox and since I’m swedish I think it’s an Arctic fox!😄❄️
This my first TIAS but I hope not my last! Vera fun!
Thank You❤️
Eva Jordmark Lindström
Stockholm, Sweden”

I hope to see you again, Eva.  Glad you enjoyed the game.

78.    I’m very pleased now to present my test tatter’s fox.  Ruth is an expert test tatter and excels at picking up the tiniest boo boos in my patterns.  Thank you, Ruth.  Here’s the fox that she did.

Hi Jane - okay here’s the checker fox - looking for any odd bits or bytes”

79.    Next in is Wendy who says

 Hello Jane,
Here she is, Fiona Fox.  Well she is pink lol.
This was a lot of fun.  Thanks you so much for organising and designing the TIAS.
Wendy x”

Fiona is wonderful dressed in pink!!!  It always makes me smile when all the colours are chosen and I imagine what they’re going to look like when they’re finished.  Thanks for taking part.

80 - 88    It takes a LOT to stop me in my tracks and this next skulk of foxes has certainly done that.  No, it’s not a typo on the numbering but this truly has amazed me.  Nona sent this in with the following message

 Hi Jane,
Our local tatting group, Bay Area Tatting Society (aka BATS), did your TIAS together as part of our January-February tatting project.  We meet on Zoom once a month for group tatting and conversation.  We had a lot of fun the past few weeks trying to guess what this TIAS would turn into.  Seemed like a fox or raccoon to many of us, but with no legs in evidence, we were quite stymied!  Thank you so much for doing this again this year.  It was much needed during this long winter of isolation.  Here is our collection of foxy bookmarks.
Nona ”

THANK YOU to the BATS.  I’m beyond impressed.

89.    Char has just arrived with her fox in such pretty colours.  Here is her picture and comment

 Hi Jane,
I haven't been able to send progress pictures, but really enjoy each step and seeing everybody else's  progressive guesses.
Here is my Foxy "Chameleon" Bookmark.  My Thread is Lizbeth, size 20.  Colors, to empty shuttles: # 153 Rainbow Taffy, # 159 Easter Eggs, #658 Ocean Turquois LT., #657 Ocean Turquois DK.
Like all the others I look forward to each new TIA.  Please, Please continue.
Char H.   Northern Idaho, USA”

90.    Just arrived in the inbox is Margaret who says this

Sorry my Mr. Fox (I know he's pink, but he is handsome and therefore male!) is a bit late. I thought I had left him looking at Golden Eagles, but he managed to find his way to the pheasants for some reason - can't imagine why!
He did take a bit of finding in the book!
Thanks for a great Tat It and See - it was great fun,
Margaret Howie”

Oh dear - I fear for the pheasants and their future, Margaret!!!

91.    Another BATTY fox has arrived.  I think he missed the bus and had to walk!!!  The message that came with him is

Here’s one more BATTY fox from the BATS in Wisconsin:
The threads are Lizbeth 20, colors 654 (navy) and 686 (sea green lt).  It was fun.  Thanks for all of your work in making our TIAS happen.“

Right  - time for my beauty sleep.  Well I do try but in 77 years of sleeping it hasn't worked!!!!
